Patch individual modules together to build sounds in Bespoke Synth, a software modular synthesizer that lets you construct an instrument and workspace from the ground up. Its modular DAW design breaks music-making into connected components instead of centering the experience on a conventional studio timeline.

Modules can be arranged in a custom layout, much like hardware modular equipment, so each project can reflect the way its creator wants to work. Although it shares some characteristics with a digital audio workstation, Bespoke places less emphasis on a global timeline and is shaped more for jamming, experimentation, and musical exploration. It suits electronic musicians who want to investigate patches and assemble their own creative environment rather than follow a fixed production layout.

The project began in 2011 as its developer’s attempt to learn more about making music by building a personal alternative to existing DAWs. An in-application tooltip system explains how modules are used, while external documentation and an introductory video provide additional guidance. Users can discuss the software and seek support through Discord, and follow its development on GitHub.

The macOS catalog release is version 1.3.0 for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, while Bespoke also has releases for Windows and Linux. It is freeware and open source under the GPLv3 license; all versions are identical, and optional payments go directly to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
