Blue Recorder

Capture audio and video from your desktop with Blue Recorder, producing recordings that preserve on-screen activity. Developed by Salem Yaslem, Blue Recorder is an open-source desktop recorder. It is aimed at people who need a straightforward way to record desktop activity for demonstrations, instructions, or personal reference.

The program records across almost all Linux interfaces, including both Wayland and Xorg. It can save video in MKV, AVI, MP4, WMV, GIF, and NUT formats. Before recording, users can choose an audio input from the available source list.

Blue Recorder remembers changed default settings and applies them the next time it opens. A recording can be stopped by right-clicking the application icon and selecting Stop Record; on interfaces supporting the required behavior, middle-clicking the recording icon in the notification area also stops it.

Written in Rust, the application uses GTK+ 4, GStreamer, and ffmpeg. It requires Linux with snapd, uses the x86_64 (amd64) architecture, and needs audio-record and screencast-legacy connected for proper operation. The current version is 0+git.738ab95.
