Send photos, videos, and audio across the local network to DLNA/UPnP and FCast receivers, turning a compatible device into a display or speaker for personal media and supported online content. CastLab 1.5.0 is open-source software in the Video & Media Players category for Android. Media can come from the gallery, Android’s file picker, or online sources, while automatic receiver discovery uses SSDP and mDNS.

A media browser arranges content by album and filters it by date range or media type. CastLab can also share the Android screen in real time, which is useful when the content is not available as a separate media file. Its player provides play, pause, stop, seeking, volume, and autoplay controls, and playlists can be created and managed.

Background playback continues with play, pause, and stop controls in the notification. The app extracts videos from web pages through HTML parsing, supports PeerTube and YouTube through Invidious instances without a direct connection to YouTube, and imports M3U and M3U8 playlists for IPTV and online streams. Material Design 3 styling includes Light, Dark, Auto, and Custom themes with eight presets, built around Android media selection, notifications, and screen-sharing capabilities.

The app requires Android 7.0 or later and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures. This release adds playback controls and a seek bar to the casting notification and lock screen, and fixes casting so it continues when CastLab moves into the background.
