Choragus5.0

Control Sonos speakers from a Mac, selecting playback across your household through Choragus, a native macOS Sonos controller. It discovers speakers and manages audio across zones using the open UPnP protocols supported by Sonos equipment. The app is built in Swift and SwiftUI, and its current 5.0 release runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs as a universal binary.

Choragus brings services such as Spotify, Plex, TuneIn, Apple Music, Calm Radio, and Sonos Radio into the Sonos experience, with service setup taking either one click or three steps depending on the provider. TuneIn, Calm Radio, Sonos Radio, and Apple Music search work when those services have already been added to the Sonos household; radio services are commonly preinstalled, while Apple Music must be added through the Sonos app. On first launch, macOS must grant Choragus access to devices on the local network so speaker discovery can function.

The project suits Sonos owners who want to keep controlling their speakers from a Mac, particularly as the former official desktop controller was Intel-only and depended on Rosetta 2. It was built from scratch by a Sonos fan and is independent of Sonos, Inc., with no Sonos proprietary code, assets, or intellectual property included. Testing covered a live system with 22 speakers in 15 zones, both S1 and S2 generations, more than 45,000 local tracks, and multiple streaming services.

Choragus is freeware in the Music & Audio category for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, supporting Intel and Apple Silicon hardware.
