About

Mark each take with an on-screen clapperboard, capture its identifying details, and keep production notes together in Cinema Slate: Where great takes begins. Developed by Navideck, it replaces a physical slate for indie films, commercials, documentaries, music videos, and multi-camera productions while generating timecode or locking to an existing timecode source.

The board provides fields for scene, shot, take, roll, day, director, DOP, operator, lens, microphone, frame rate, location, day or night, sound, MOS or sync, and interior or exterior. Lettered shot codes from A through Z and AA can be advanced or reversed as the crew moves between setups. Tapping the clapper creates both an audible clap and a screen flash, while a volume button or device shake can trigger it hands-free.

Every clap adds the scene, shot, take, roll, day, and timecode to shot history, which can be filtered by scene or shot for quick reference. Unwanted entries can be discarded with Redo, while Next Take stores notes and a rating before moving forward. Its PRO features allow unlimited projects, take numbers beyond one, local-network synchronization with nearby Cinema Slate apps, optional passcode pairing, and timecode display down to the frame; logs export to CSV for editorial work and back up or restore as JSON.

The commercial Video & Media Players software is version 1.2.0 for Linux, requires snapd, and supports the amd64 architecture. It suits directors, cinematographers, camera operators, and sound crews who need consistent slate data across single-camera setups or coordinated multi-camera shoots.
