ColorWell8.1.5

Pick a color from an image, assemble a coordinated palette, and carry the result into a design project with ColorWell. It converts colors among Hex, RGB, HSL, HSB, Lab, and CMYK, supports multiple RGB and CMYK color spaces, and generates Swift or Objective-C color code. Its scheme tools produce complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, and monochromatic combinations. Palettes can contain unlimited swatches, with individual colors available for further adjustment.

ColorWell imports and exports JSON, Adobe ASE, and Apple CLR palette files for sharing with other tools. A .json palette uses a dictionary with exactly two entries: paletteName and colors, the latter containing an array of hexadecimal color codes. Every change is recorded in History as a complete color state, preserving the active color and saved swatches together. Imported schemes enter ColorWell’s universal palette database and become available through the macOS system color picker for system-wide use.

Designers can generate palettes from one or more images, create schemes for their preferred design applications, and restrict the interface to the color formats they use. The app can live in the menu bar, float above other applications, and appear or disappear through a global hotkey. Swatches can be rearranged or removed by dragging them, and the interface is localized in English, German, Dutch, French, and Korean.

ColorWell 8.1.5 is freeware for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 Ventura or later; macOS 14 or later is identified as supported, with Golden Gate recommended. It belongs to the Photo & Graphics category.
