Conceal embeds WAVE audio data inside an image, creating a picture that also carries a sound file. It places the audio information in the image’s least significant bits, using pixel data to hold the concealed payload. The resulting image can be shared through social media and other channels intended for exchanging images.

A recipient can open an image containing embedded WAVE data with Conceal and parse it to read the concealed audio information. The same application therefore supports both creating these combined image-and-audio files and examining ones received from another person. Its distinguishing purpose is to pair image sharing with storage of wave audio data rather than sending the two media files separately.

The app suits Android users who exchange media and need to create or inspect these specially prepared images on a mobile device. Typical use involves encoding a WAVE file into an image before sharing it, or processing a received image to access its embedded audio.

Current version 1.4 requires Android 5.0 or later and uses a Universal architecture. Conceal is released as open-source software.
