About
It lets Android 14 devices install older APKs that the system normally rejects because of their low target API level. Disable Target API Block works as an Xposed module, hooking Android’s app-installation process so it automatically applies the bypass intended for legacy applications. It covers apps targeting an API below 23, which means software built before Android 6 Marshmallow.
The module helps restore straightforward manual installation of older APKs, including packages used by backup applications and other tools that have not yet adapted to Android 14’s restriction. Advanced users can otherwise invoke the same exception with adb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block, or with pm install from a root shell on the device. It can also be enabled for the official F-Droid client, changing how that client evaluates older applications.
With the F-Droid integration active, apps affected by the compatibility check can be marked compatible again instead of being hidden as incompatible on modern devices. Resetting F-Droid’s stored compatibility data requires clearing its app data; users should preserve a backup and record custom repositories and relevant settings first. Deleting /data/data/org.fdroid.fdroid/databases/fdroid_db* offers an alternative, but also removes custom repositories and custom repository or individual-app update settings.
Version 1.2 adds support for marking affected apps as compatible again in F-Droid. The open-source Developer Tools release requires Android 14 or later, uses Universal architecture, and is intended for users running Xposed who need legacy-app installation or F-Droid compatibility restored.
