About
Play albums or individual tracks from a self-hosted Euterpe music library, search its database, and listen to music you already own over the internet. Euterpe is an open-source audio player for mobile and desktop Linux, designed with a mobile-first interface that also works on desktop systems. It requires access to an Euterpe server running somewhere, and supports connecting to that server with or without authentication.
Browse albums, artists, and songs using their tag metadata, then edit playlists stored on the server. The player is fast and uses very few resources, making it suitable for constrained devices such as phones and laptops. It plays common formats served by Euterpe, including MP3, FLAC, OGG, OGA, WAV, and M4A.
Euterpe’s companion server is distributed as a single small binary and runs without dynamic-language web-server extensions, a database, or copied source files. Its small footprint lets it coexist with other services while conserving RAM and CPU. An API supports additional clients and preserves backward compatibility with existing integrations.
Album artwork and artist images can be downloaded automatically from the internet or curated manually, while the server can provide music to as many devices as desired without regional blocks. The ecosystem does not track listening habits, keeping personal music data under its owner’s control for access from anywhere. Version 0.9.0 reduces wasted space on the Home and Browse screens, adds many more Browse options, and enlarges the artwork in the main player area while keeping it behind the controls.
Requires Linux + Flatpak · Architecture: x86_64, aarch64
What's new in v0.9.0
This version improves the "Home" and "Browse" screens. The aim is for less wasted space in both of them. The "Browse" screen now includes a lot of more options. Additionally, the artwork show in the main player area is now much bigger and kept behind the player controls.
