FastRawViewer opens RAW photographs and renders them immediately from their underlying data instead of relying on embedded JPEG previews. This lets photographers inspect an image as a RAW converter will interpret it, then cull and sort shots according to actual RAW quality rather than a potentially misleading preview or histogram. It is especially useful when slow 1:1 preview generation makes reviewing a large shoot cumbersome.

Its inspection tools include a RAW histogram, RAW statistics, Shadow Boost, Highlight Inspection, Focus Peaking, per-channel viewing, Exposure Compensation, White Balance, and Contrast Curves. Photographers can rate, label, sort, and filter any number of RAW images, while the program also opens JPEG, TIFF, and PNG files. It supports almost every RAW format across 1,316 digital cameras and mobile devices, with that compatibility list regularly updated.

FastRawViewer fits photographers who need to assess exposure, clipped highlights, shadows, and focus before sending selected images into an existing RAW workflow. Settings can be adjusted extensively, including keyboard and mouse shortcuts, so the review process can match individual working habits. The current 2.0.11.2088 release is freeware for MacOS, supports macOS 10.13 and later, and runs on Intel and Apple Silicon.
