Fission2.9.5

Fission lets users quickly cut, crop, trim, join, and split audio files without the quality loss associated with many editors. It preserves quality even when editing MP3 and AAC files, while keeping standard controls uncluttered and easy to reach.

Its batch converter processes dozens of files and exports them as MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, AIFF, or WAV; any file it can open can also be saved in those formats. Users can remove selected audio with Cut, keep a highlighted region with Crop, adjust gain, add fades, normalize volume, and create AAC or MP3 podcast chapters. Drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste joins multiple files, automatic silence detection divides long LP or DVD recordings, and Split Points or cue sheets create separate files or preserve edit divisions.

Fission supports FLAC editing and can turn selections into custom ringtones with “Save as iPhone Ringtone” for iOS devices. It fits podcast workflows that begin with Audio Hijack, lossless editing of songs purchased from Apple’s Music Store, and trimming recordings made from web streams. Consumers and audio professionals can also use it to prepare polished recordings without navigating an overloaded editor.

Fission 2.9.5 is freeware in the Music & Audio category for macOS, supports Intel and Apple Silicon, and requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Rogue Amoeba develops the application.
