Choose a root music folder and Foldio turns each of its subfolders into a separate playlist, letting you play locally stored tracks without relying on streaming. It is an open-source Android music player in the Video & Media Players category, built around the idea that your folder structure can organize your library.

Playback controls cover play, pause, skipping, and shuffle, while background listening continues through a foreground service. You can also select several folder playlists and shuffle their tracks together as one combined queue. Foldio extracts embedded ID3 album artwork and lets you replace a playlist’s image with artwork from any track in that playlist.

The app suits listeners who keep music on their phone and want folder-based organization, including offline listening during travel or in areas with limited connectivity. It requires Android 5.0 or later and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices. Version 1.2.0 adds dedicated Random and Recent buttons plus actions assigned to long presses. It also removes the network permission, stops playback when a wired headphone jack is pulled out, and stops its music when another audio player begins playing.
