Use Google Gemini in a focused Android interface that keeps the conversation separate from the distractions of a general web browser. geminiAssist delivers this experience through a lightweight WebView wrapper, concentrating on Gemini’s existing chat features rather than adding a separate collection of AI functions.

The app blocks URLs that Gemini does not need, while a control in the top-right corner lets you switch between restricted and unrestricted browsing modes. Swiping upward slightly hides that control when you want more room for the chat. Long-pressing it clears cookies, cached data, and site data, then signs you out to reset the conversation environment.

geminiAssist is suited to Android users who want a dedicated Gemini window for regular chats, quick questions, or focused AI work without opening a broader browser. It is open-source software licensed under the GPLv3, and includes code from gptAssist and GMaps WV, both also released under the GPLv3.

Version 1.4 requires Android 5.0 or later and uses Universal architecture. This release fixes voice input failing to start the first time microphone permission is granted, opens links outside the allowlist in the browser, and lets generated images delivered through blob URLs be saved with the download button or by long-pressing them; long-pressing such an image previously crashed the app.
