Grayjay gathers videos from multiple services into one app, so you can browse and watch subscriptions without switching between platform-specific applications. It accepts sources such as YouTube, PeerTube, Odysee, Nebula, and Patreon, while custom plugins can add others. Instead of centering the experience on platforms, it lets you follow creators and keep control of the content you choose to watch. A unified feed combines subscriptions and recommendations, while viewing history and playlists are stored locally and videos can be saved for offline playback.

You can create custom playlists, sort videos for different occasions, and organize your personal library within the player. NewPipe subscriptions can be imported from a JSON export, and supported source plugins can import subscriptions or playlists after you sign in to the relevant platform. For television or desktop casting, the recommended companion is FCast Receiver, which runs on Android, Android TV, macOS, Windows, and Linux. Grayjay acts as an aggregator rather than a streaming service: it does not host or distribute the media, but brings content from other services together.

Version 17 is listed as freeware for Linux, while the developer’s first-class mobile edition is focused on Android; a desktop edition is in internal testing, and an iOS edition is not planned in the near future. No subscription is required to use the app. Tabs can be reordered or hidden through Manage Tabs, and the Subscriptions tab appears only after subscriptions have been added, possibly under More.
