HandyRec1.3.1

Record up to eight audio tracks with HandyRec, then arrange the takes into a finished audio project. It lets musicians combine recorded performances, organize separate parts, and prepare a completed media file from multiple overdubs. Individual tracks can be muted or soloed in a built-in visual mixing console, while real-time waveform displays show the recorded material and fast seeking helps locate sections quickly.

Keyboard shortcuts give rapid access to controls, including while the user’s hands are on an instrument, and a dark mode provides an alternative interface appearance. Before recording, the interactive chromatic tuner helps check an instrument’s pitch. Its metronome supplies visual and audio cues, supports time signatures, count-ins, and tap tempo, and can detect BPM automatically. Automatic latency calibration helps keep overdubbed tracks synchronized when arrangements combine tuned performances, timed takes, and multiple parts.

Completed arrangements can be mixed down and exported as WAV or MP3 files, making HandyRec useful for musicians rehearsing, layering parts, or preparing shareable recordings. Developed by Jan Kulhánek, HandyRec 1.3.1 is open-source software in the Video & Media Players category for Linux. It requires Linux with snapd and runs on x86_64 (amd64) systems.
