immich desktop0.2.4

Connect to an Immich server and browse its stored photos and videos from a dedicated desktop interface instead of depending solely on a browser. immich desktop uses an API key to authenticate the connection, giving the client access to the server’s media library. It suits people who keep their collection on an Immich server and want to view, manage, or transfer media from a desktop workstation.

After connecting, the library can be explored by people, places, or recently added items. The client uploads and downloads files, streams videos from the server, and includes an integrated media player for playback inside the application. This makes it practical for reviewing a remote collection, retrieving files locally, or sending new media back to the server.

Offline mode and local caching keep previously available content usable without an internet connection, while smart caching limits repeated loading of thumbnails and accessed media. The application can identify a reachable local or home endpoint, use it when available, and return to the standard endpoint if that connection fails. Background loading is designed to manage memory efficiently, and unsuccessful uploads enter a retry queue that resumes when connectivity returns.

Single-instance mode prevents multiple copies from running at once, while automatic updates use an intelligent installation process. Version 0.2.4 runs on Linux with snapd and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems. Published by maciej, it is open-source software in the Video & Media Players category.
