About
Send files between a phone and computer, browse the phone’s files from the computer, and keep work moving across both screens with KDE Connect. It links the devices over Wi-Fi, so file transfers and other features work without a USB cable or Bluetooth, while end-to-end TLS encryption protects the data exchanged between them. Communication stays direct on the local network, never passes through the internet, and KDE Connect sends no information to KDE or any third party.
A shared clipboard lets you copy text on one device and paste it on the other. The phone can serve as a virtual touchpad, remote input device, and multimedia controller for Linux media players. Computer notifications can show incoming calls and messages, synchronize phone notifications, and allow replies to messages from the desktop.
The Android app requires KDE Connect on the computer, and the desktop companion should be kept current with the Android version for the latest features. Remote Input requires Accessibility permission when it is used to control the Android phone from another device, while Trusted Networks requires Background location permission to identify the connected Wi-Fi network.
KDE Connect 1.35.17 supports Android 6.0 and later on arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86, and is open-source software in the Developer Tools category. This release delivers bug fixes, including improved VPN reconnection and a fix for notification synchronization stopping; the preceding update also removed the custom-keyboard requirement for Remote Keyboard, added multiple-URL sharing and a Clear Output command option, and corrected muted-call controls.
