About
kube-apiserver is the central API service used to manage Kubernetes cluster objects and shared state. It receives requests through the Kubernetes API and provides the service through which that state can be read or changed. The software is intended for people who operate or develop Kubernetes environments.
The server validates data submitted for Kubernetes API objects before applying their configuration. These objects include pods, services, replication controllers, and other Kubernetes resources. It also handles REST operations that retrieve or modify the shared state represented by those objects.
kube-apiserver is a control-plane component rather than a standalone application for general end users. Its API endpoint enables Kubernetes components to communicate when working with cluster resources. MirrorNest places it in the Internet & Browsers category because its primary role is providing this network-accessible API service.
The software is open-source and runs on Linux. MirrorNest mirrors the official build directly onto its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it. Additional technical information is available in the Kubernetes reference documentation at https://kubernetes.io/docs/reference/command-line-tools-reference/kube-apiserver/.
