Linthra plays music stored on your Android device and can stream your collection from a self-hosted server, keeping playback local-first with no forced synchronization. It supports compatible Jellyfin and Navidrome/Subsonic libraries through the account you provide, while remaining an unofficial community client unaffiliated with those projects. For local playback, choose a music folder through Android’s Storage Access Framework, then browse scanned files by Songs, Albums, or Artists and search across them.

Server libraries can be connection-tested, signed in, synchronized, and played over HTTPS. A size-limited offline cache stores requested tracks, with a Keep offline option for music that should remain available without a connection. Queues, playlists, favourites, shuffle, repeat, synchronized lyrics, and device-based smart mixes cover everyday listening.

Background playback supplies media controls through the lock screen, Bluetooth devices, and wired headsets, while Android Auto browsing and casting to a Chromecast, speaker, or TV use a pure-Dart Cast implementation without Google Play Services. Linthra suits listeners who maintain personal libraries on phones or self-hosted servers, although its early-alpha status makes it appropriate for real-device testing rather than production-stable use.

The app contains no ads, tracking, analytics, crash-reporting, or telemetry SDKs, and server passwords are discarded after obtaining a session token whose encrypted form is not logged. Streaming is the default; downloads happen only when requested and use Wi-Fi unless mobile data is explicitly permitted. Linthra 0.2.7 is an open-source Video & Media Players app for Android 7.0+ on arm64-v8a devices, and it does not require a separate Linthra account.
