Melodeon1.19

Melodeon turns a tablet running Android 5.0 or later into a playable one-row melodeon or one-and-a-half-row organetto emulator. Select the Melodeon or organetto layout, choose Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, or A, and perform the notes with MIDI sound. The organetto’s half-row buttons are reversals, and a slide control at the bottom can reverse the button arrangement.

Hold the tablet upright with its back facing you, tap the buttons, and touch the vertical grey bar to operate the virtual bellows. Melodeon includes the standard MIDI instrument set, starts with accordion selected, and uses a built-in Sonivox synthesizer for audio output. Its fascia image choices alter the on-screen instrument’s appearance, while the button artwork is based on a more than 70-year-old Hohner Lilliput. The app uses an undocumented interface because the standard Android system does not send MIDI messages to its built-in synthesizer.

Designed for tablet players learning or practicing button accordion layouts, it offers a compact way to explore both instrument arrangements and key choices. Version 1.19 updates the available themes and layouts. It supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices, belongs to the Video & Media Players category, and is released under an open-source license.
