openstack-network-agents

openstack-network-agents is an open-source networking package for Linux. It packages the networking agents and utilities used to run OpenStack on hosts that use Open vSwitch and OVN. It is designed to be used alongside MicroOVN and forms part of the Sunbeam OpenStack project.

The package manages provider bridges for external network connectivity. It can create OVS bridges, attach physical network interfaces, and configure OVN physical-network mappings. It can also discover candidate uplink interfaces while filtering out virtual devices and bond members.

A command-line interface provides the setup-bridge, show-bridge-setup, and list-nics subcommands for inspection and configuration. The list-nics command can present candidate physical, bond, and VLAN interfaces in JSON or a human-readable table. The setup-bridge command applies the current snap configuration to create or update OVS bridges and physical-network mappings. Configuration is stored through snap settings in the network namespace and is typically managed by a Juju subordinate charm.

The package requires Ubuntu 24.04 or later, with MicroOVN installed and its ovn-chassis content interface connected. MirrorNest places the official open-source build on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it. As a Linux Networking entry, it fits users preparing OpenStack hosts with OVS and OVN networking components.
