openstack-network-agents

openstack-network-agents configures the Open vSwitch and OVN networking components that OpenStack hosts use to connect external provider networks. It bundles the required networking agents and helper utilities, working alongside MicroOVN as part of the Sunbeam OpenStack project. Canonical publishes it as open-source software for Linux environments.

The package creates provider bridges, connects physical network interfaces to those bridges, and sets the corresponding OVN physical-network mappings. It can also identify possible uplinks while excluding virtual devices and members of bonded interfaces. These capabilities help operators prepare OpenStack compute or networking hosts that rely on OVS and OVN.

Its command-line interface includes setup-bridge, show-bridge-setup, and list-nics for configuration and inspection. list-nics reports candidate physical, bond, and VLAN interfaces either as JSON or in a readable table. setup-bridge uses the active snap configuration to create or update OVS bridges and their physical-network mappings, while configuration is kept in snap settings within the network namespace and is typically managed by a Juju subordinate charm.

The current version is 2024.1-ccb154a1 and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems running Ubuntu 24.04 or newer with snapd. MicroOVN must be installed, with its ovn-chassis content interface connected, making this package suited to operators building Sunbeam-based OpenStack deployments with OVS and OVN networking.
