Pile brings personal files into one place, where you can assign documents flexible tags called piles instead of arranging them through fixed folder structures. Everything stays on the device and works offline, so the collection can be used without an internet connection. Pile does not collect personal data, run analytics or tracking, or upload documents to the cloud, keeping the files under the user’s control. Pile is open-source software for Android 9 and newer in the Developer Tools category, delivered as a universal build.

Version 1.2.9 improves app performance and fixes errors that affected use. Planned additions include local AI-powered extraction of document information, backup options, improved sharing flows, and support for multiple platforms.
