Its role is distinct from the ticket shop itself: pretix handles the event’s online ticketing, while pretixSCAN provides the Android-based ticket-scanning function at the venue. This makes it a focused companion for organizers and registration teams working during conference arrival periods. The workflow connects ticket sales managed in pretix with on-site admission checks.

The app runs on Android, so staff use an Android device for scanning. Its source code is published in the pretixscan-android project on GitHub. pretixSCAN is open-source software licensed under the Apache License. Usage tracking is provided through Sentry, and users cannot disable that tracking.
