About

QQ Music lets Linux listeners play music from Tencent’s online service on a desktop, giving them a way to reach streamed audio without relying on a separate mobile device. It is an online music streaming service that operates in China, so its primary use is listening to the service’s China-based offering from a supported Linux environment. In practical use, a listener selects music available through QQ Music and plays it over the internet rather than treating the program as a general-purpose local media library.

The program’s central capability is online playback, with the service acting as the source of the music and the Linux client providing the listening interface. It is intended for individual listening sessions at a workstation, such as background music while working or focused listening at a desk. Its China-based operating context distinguishes it from a generic offline player because the experience is tied to Tencent’s QQ Music service rather than to files already stored on the computer.

The current release is version 1.1.8, and the software is freeware. Tencent is identified as QQ Music’s developer or publisher, but this Linux wrapper has not been verified by Tencent and is not affiliated with or supported by the company. Before installing, users should know that it targets Linux and provides access to an online service operating in China.
