Reson8

Reson8 is a studio-grade strobe tuner for Linux in the Music & Audio category. Its native C++ engine measures pitch to a tenth of a cent for detailed tuning work. The software is intended for musicians and audio professionals working with instruments that require precise pitch analysis.

The interface combines a strobe gauge, a constant-Q spectrum, and intonation-drift analysis. It supports guitar, bass, and ukulele, including polyphonic strum detection. Reson8 also covers brass and woodwinds, drums, and a professional piano suite with measured inharmonicity and Railsback curves.

Users can set a reference pitch and choose historical temperaments for different tuning contexts. Audio from the microphone is analysed on the local machine and does not leave it. Reson8 has no network access, account requirement, telemetry, or tracking.

Reson8 is distributed for Linux through MirrorNest, which links directly to the official release rather than hosting a mirrored copy. Its license is commercial, while the complete app, including the professional piano suite, is free on Linux. Microphone capture requires the audio-record interface, and if it is not connected automatically, it can be enabled with snap connect reson8:audio-record.
