About
Play locally stored music from a computer or compatible home server with bit-perfect playback, giving listeners precise control over high-fidelity libraries. Its fast scanner builds a searchable collection with detailed metadata, album artwork, and lyrics, so albums and tracks are easy to browse.
RSPlayer supports FLAC, WAV, ALAC, DSD in DSF and DFF formats, MP3, AAC, Ogg, and additional audio types. Playback includes gapless transitions, ReplayGain, loudness analysis, and a parametric DSP chain for shaping the signal. Direct ALSA access sends audio exclusively to USB DACs and supports DSD playback, while PipeWire and PulseAudio serve everyday listening.
Internet radio, streaming metadata, media keys, and MPRIS integration extend it beyond files stored locally. Its multiroom mode groups RSPlayer instances across a local network for synchronized playback. The desktop program shares its engine with the headless RSPlayer server, which can run on a Raspberry Pi, NAS, or home server and be controlled through any browser.
Developed by Dragan Ljubojevic, this open-source Music & Audio player is at version 5.1.1 for Linux, requires snapd, and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems. Its snap sandbox cannot mount network shares from inside the application or perform system power actions.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
