Stanley lets Android developers inspect applications installed on their device and understand how each one is built. It examines an app’s permissions, features, activities, services, content providers, and broadcast receivers in one place. Developers can export the application’s declared configuration for review or sharing.

The same inspection works with APK files that are not installed: Stanley opens them from a file browser and reports their application details. This makes it useful for checking an app before installation, investigating components during development, or comparing behavior across builds. Its focus on both installed software and standalone APKs distinguishes it from explorers limited to applications already on the device.

Version 2.7 fixes the Dark Mode theme and adds SHA-256 fingerprints for signing certificates. It also replaces Google’s non-free open-source-license screen with an internally implemented alternative. The official app is available through F-Droid, and it displays no advertising.

Stanley is open-source Developer Tools software for Android, requires Android 4.4 or newer, and uses a Universal architecture. It is intended primarily for Android developers, testers, and technically minded users who need direct visibility into application structure without relying on a desktop analysis environment.
