SuperFreezZ: App stopper1.1

SuperFreezZ: App stopper freezes all background activity for selected Android apps, giving you control over which programs continue running on your phone. It is suited to rarely used, annoying, or untrusted apps that you would rather keep inactive between uses. Freezing these apps can improve battery life and reduce mobile-data usage, making it especially useful on tours when only a few apps are needed.

Users can configure automatic freezing for apps that have not been used for a week, and select a whitelist of apps to leave alone. The app can operate without Android’s accessibility service, which may otherwise slow the device. Unfreezing a super-frozen app takes about one to three seconds, while freezing apps used every day can slightly increase battery drain, so the feature is best applied selectively.

The Android release is version 1.1, uses Universal architecture, and is open-source. It is intended for people with older or slower phones, as well as anyone who wants more control over background activity without treating SuperFreezZ as a conventional task manager.

This release updates translations, refreshes the internal list of F-Droid apps that are not frozen automatically, and adds a note about gradually winding down SuperFreezZ. Android increasingly restricts how long apps can run in the background, which can make SuperFreezZ less effective on some devices, but its manual control remains useful where the system leaves background behavior to the user.
