Synkplay keeps video playback synchronized for everyone in a shared viewing room, so participants can watch together across Android, iOS, and desktop. On Android, it acts as an unofficial Syncplay client and uses the same protocol as the desktop client to connect viewers across platforms. Users can play videos stored on their device or paste a video link into the app.

Its integrated player offers mpv, ExoPlayer, and the experimental KitePlayer engine, covering many video containers and codecs while handling external subtitles, chapters, and picture-in-picture playback. Participants can pause, seek, and resume in sync, chat with GIFs, and browse a playlist shared by the room. A device can host the room server directly without an account or setup, while managed rooms can assign playback control to one participant. Custom themes, extensive settings, eight interface languages, and additional translations through Weblate provide room for personalization.

Synkplay suits Android viewers coordinating films, shows, or other videos with people using the mobile app or Syncplay desktop client. Version 0.26.0 requires Android 8.0 or later and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures. It requires no account, includes no analytics or advertising, communicates with the server chosen by the user, and contacts another service only when a related feature is used.
