whatami2.2

whatami prints a humorous insult in the terminal, turning an ordinary command-line session into a source of comic entertainment. Its deliberately irreverent messages are aimed at people who can enjoy playful mockery without taking the output seriously. The program is not a conventional help utility; its purpose is to produce amusing terminal responses rather than practical command guidance.

Running whatami uses an ASCII-art presentation, giving each insult a more theatrical appearance. The -p option switches to plain output without ASCII art, which suits terminals or situations where text-only responses are preferable. Users can also submit new insults through GitHub issues or pull requests, providing a direct way to contribute additions to its collection.

Developed by James Tigert, whatami 2.2 is open-source software for Linux in the Video & Media Players category. It runs on x86_64 (amd64) systems and requires Linux with snapd; the program is installed as a snap. Its open-source license permits access to the code and provides openly available terms for reuse. The intentionally sharp humor makes it best suited to command-line users who are comfortable with an insult-driven style rather than seeking a serious productivity tool.
