Create and arrange sound effects, music, and MIDI performances in yadaw’s timeline-based digital audio workstation, with tracks for recording and editing audio. It provides MIDI input, a piano-roll editor, automation lanes for parameter control, and a mixer with per-track controls. A connected keyboard or mouse is recommended because dragging and keyboard shortcuts are central to its workflow.

yadaw hosts CLAP and LV2 instruments and effects instead of bundling built-in effects, keeping the program minimal and lightweight; this plugin support is not available on F-Droid. VST3 hosting is also available in a partial, experimental form, with missing features and incompatibility with timer-based interfaces such as geonkick’s. Android plugin binaries must be cross-compiled with the Android NDK, while the web preview can start and play audio but cannot load runtime plugins from .clap bundles because libloading is unavailable on WebAssembly.

It imports and exports WAV, Ogg, and FLAC files and is intended for sound-effect creators, music makers, and MIDI playback, including projects built around external instrument packs such as VSCO2 through samplo. The program runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, and Android, though Windows currently requires manual compilation rather than a release build, and the Android edition is less functional than the desktop versions. Android use requires version 10 or later on arm64-v8a; the APK is under 20 MB, and yadaw is open-source. Version 0.10.9 adopts rlobkit’s immersive sticky flag for issue #13, improving immersive interface behavior.
