ZXDrawer

ZXDrawer gives ZX Spectrum game makers a canvas for creating and editing graphics in the classic .zxp and .scr formats. It opens and saves both formats, including .scr files of 6,912 bytes consisting of 6,144 bitmap bytes and 768 attribute bytes arranged according to the Spectrum memory layout. PNG and JPG images can be imported through an interactive conversion view that adjusts brightness, contrast, and saturation while previewing the resulting Spectrum palette.

The editor works in 8×8 blocks with ink, paper, bright, and flash attributes, and provides pencil, block selection, text, pixel and attribute inversion, horizontal and vertical flipping, and 90-degree rotation for the active selection. Artwork can be exported as PNG or retained as editable .zxp data, while ASM and BIN export supports graphics plus attributes, graphics-only or attributes-only output, byte ordering, interleaving, masks, horizontal zigzag ordering, and extra z88dk information. PutChars generates Boriel BASIC code for displaying character graphics, GuSprites creates Boriel BASIC sprite tables, and automatic mask generation adds a transparency-sprite column beside each sheet sprite.

Animation preview plays or steps through frames in the active selection and marks the current frame on the main canvas. Size presets include the default 256×192 Spectrum screen, 256×48 ZXSGM Spriteset, and 256×48 ZXSGM Tileset, alongside custom dimensions and CHR/CH8 support. Recent-file access covers the last ten opened or saved files, while dragging .zxp or .scr files onto the window provides quick opening and installation registers those extensions as associated file types; Spanish, English, and Portuguese interfaces are available, with multiple windows supported.
