Acutis Firewall

Acutis Firewall is an open-source Android application for filtering websites and selected online services across the device. It works across all installed apps, rather than limiting filtering to web browsers. The app is listed in the Security & Privacy category and is designed for device-level control of domain access.

Users can optionally block gambling websites and social media platforms. Daily screen-time limits can be assigned to particular sites or categories, and blocking schedules can be set for selected days of the week. These schedules can be used for periods such as homework time, bedtime, or family hours. A one-tap activation option is available when no further configuration is needed.

The app creates a local VPN tunnel to inspect DNS requests on the Android device. When a requested domain is blocked, Acutis Firewall returns a not-found response so the content does not load, while permitted traffic continues through the normal connection without slowdown. Settings can be protected with a PIN, protection can start when the device boots, and the PIN is stored in Android’s encrypted storage. Filtering occurs locally, with no analytics, tracking, or data collection, and DNS requests go directly to the system DNS or Cloudflare.

Acutis Firewall supports Android 10 and later, does not require root access, and is available as free software without a subscription.
