Vault Explorer

Vault Explorer is an open-source Android application for accessing and managing encrypted storage on a device. It is categorized under Security & Privacy and is intended for users who need to work with protected containers, USB volumes, and directory-based vaults. The app can create encrypted containers and USB volumes, and it can mount up to eight of them at the same time.

Vault Explorer can read and write NTFS, FAT, exFAT, and ext2/3/4 filesystems within a container. It can unlock VeraCrypt, LUKS, and BitLocker storage, including cascaded ciphers and hidden volumes, and it supports Cryptomator, gocryptfs, and CryFS directory vaults. Viewers are included for photos, video and audio, PDF, HTML, and text or code files, along with tools for browsing ZIP archives. A vault camera can save photos and video directly into a container, while Item Vault provides an encrypted password manager inside that container.

Users can unlock storage with a password, PIN, pattern, or biometric method. Optional local automation through Tasker or MacroDroid is available as a beta feature and does not involve network access. Other tools include keyfile and passphrase generation, file encryption, hash verification, vault synchronization, storage analysis, duplicate finding, split and join operations, and container repair. The app performs decryption locally, does not collect or transmit data, has no INTERNET permission, and does not write unencrypted content to disk.

MirrorNest distributes the official Vault Explorer build directly from its own storage after scanning it for malware before publication. The open-source license describes how the software may be distributed and used, while the Android platform provides the environment for its storage and vault management functions. This distribution model gives Android users a mirrored copy of the official build without changing the app's stated local-processing design.
