Vault Explorer opens and browses encrypted containers, directory vaults, and virtual disk images on Android, keeping files inside a vault instead of exporting unencrypted copies to shared storage. It supports VeraCrypt and TrueCrypt containers, LUKS, BitLocker, Cryptomator, gocryptfs, CryFS, and VHD/VHDX images.

It reads and writes NTFS, FAT, exFAT, and ext2/3/4 filesystems, while VeraCrypt, LUKS, and BitLocker volumes support cascaded ciphers and hidden volumes. Built-in tools open or edit photos, video, audio, PDF, HTML, Markdown, and text or code files, with an image editor and archive browser for ZIP, 7-Zip, RAR, and TAR. Vault Camera saves photos and video directly into a container, including background recording and Quick Settings tile or shortcut access, while Item Vault provides an encrypted password manager within it.

Users can create encrypted containers and USB volumes, mount up to eight simultaneously, and unlock them with a password, PIN, pattern, or biometric. The app works with device storage, SD cards, and cloud document providers, including automatic synchronization between a vault and a folder. Emergency controls lock vaults, wipe credentials, or erase the app’s own data; Mask Mode displays a working local file manager until its title is held for two seconds to reveal the real vault.

Optional local Tasker and MacroDroid automation is available in beta without network involvement, alongside tools for keyfile and passphrase generation, file encryption, hash verification, synchronization, storage analysis, duplicate finding, file splitting and joining, header backup, and container repair. This open-source Security & Privacy app is version 1.30.2, requires Android 8.0+ on arm64-v8a, decrypts locally, does not collect or transmit data, and has no INTERNET permission. Scratch files use private app storage and are wiped afterward; files leave a vault only through export, sharing, or enabled synchronization or automation.
