Fontstand3.0.11

Fontstand lets designers try typefaces before committing to them, then rent selected fonts by the month for use in desktop applications. It addresses the practical problem of evaluating typography in real layouts without immediately acquiring a permanent font license. The service combines font discovery with a try-before-renting workflow, so users can compare typefaces while working on a design project. Fonts available through the platform can be tested for free, making it possible to judge their character, spacing, and suitability in context.

Monthly rentals provide desktop access at a fraction of the typeface’s regular price, which suits short-term assignments, client pitches, identity explorations, and other projects where a full purchase may be excessive. Graphic designers, typographers, art directors, and students can use Fontstand to explore unfamiliar foundries or select fonts for a specific layout. Its emphasis on trying actual fonts and then renting only what a project needs distinguishes it from a conventional font showcase or a library focused solely on permanent purchases.

Fontstand runs on macOS 13 Ventura or later and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon architecture. The current version is 3.0.11,16, and the software is distributed as freeware in the Photo & Graphics category. Its desktop focus means it is intended for font work inside a user’s regular creative software rather than for web-hosted typography.
