About

Open Passkey Authenticator lets you create, store, and use passkeys on an Android device through the Android Credential Manager. It also connects to FIDO security keys over NFC or USB, allowing passkey, FIDO2, and U2F authentication in supported browsers and other Android apps. The app provides an internal passkey list where you can view, edit, and delete on-device credentials, and, when supported, credentials stored on FIDO devices.

To use these capabilities, select Open Passkey Authenticator as the Credential Provider under Password, passkeys & accounts in Android settings; a shortcut to that setting is available in the app’s Settings tab. It supports device-backed FIDO keys and external hardware keys, and is designed to work with password managers such as KeePass while serving as an alternative to Google Play’s authenticator. German and English are currently available.

This open-source Android Security & Privacy app requires Android 14 or newer and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices. Some Android 14 devices have Credential Manager support disabled, which can limit operation, and developers building the project need Java 25 plus the Android APK build tools.

Version 2.1.9 updates the allowlist, FIDO metadata, and dependencies, while improving error handling during external passkey flows. It also redesigns the internal passkey listing and includes minor bug fixes.
