Oversec1.5.15

Oversec encrypts and decrypts text inside other Android apps, allowing private conversations and notes even when the surrounding app has no built-in encryption. It works with chat services including WhatsApp, Line, Snapchat, Instagram, and other messaging apps, and it can handle PGP-encrypted messages sent through Gmail or another email client. When you send a message, Oversec reads the text from the active input field, encrypts it, and inserts the resulting text back into that field for normal delivery.

For incoming encrypted content, the app watches the screen and places the readable version over the ciphertext as an overlay. Decrypted plain text remains available only while it is displayed, rather than being saved to the filesystem or unintentionally copied into cloud backups. Oversec can hide encrypted data with invisible zero-width characters and append decoy text, so a message can look like ordinary writing while carrying protected content. It operates without internet access, keeping decrypted information from leaving the device through Oversec.

This makes it useful for people exchanging confidential chats or email and for keeping encrypted notes on an Android phone. The current release, 1.5.15, runs on Android 5.0 or later and uses a Universal build. Oversec is open-source software in the Security & Privacy category, and its cross-application operation distinguishes it from tools that work only inside specially equipped messaging clients.
